Before January 10 – Daniel Chapter 1 Preparation
Start With Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving me another year to seek You with all my heart. As I prepare for this Daniel study, open my eyes to see what You want me to see, open my ears to hear Your voice, and strengthen my heart to obey You.
Lord, fill me with the spirit of wisdom and revelation, just as Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:17–18, so that I may know You more deeply. Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, according to Ephesians 3:16, to stand firm like Daniel—unmoved by pressure, firmly rooted in devotion to my God. And remind me, as Peter wrote in 1 Peter 1:13, to gird up the loins of my mind, stay alert, and put all my hope in the grace that is mine in Christ.
Make me a woman who honors You in every choice. Speak to me now as I open Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Summary of Daniel Chapter 1
With Lessons for Us
Daniel 1 introduces four young men—Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah—taken from Judah and brought into Babylon. They were far from home, surrounded by pressure, temptation, and a culture that didn’t honor God. Yet Scripture says Daniel “purposed in his heart” (1:8). Before the test came, the decision was already made.
Key Lessons for Us:
1. Identity First, Before Pressure Comes
Daniel knew who he belonged to. His name carried God’s name. Babylon tried to rename him — but could not redefine him. We must set our identity in Christ before the pressure hits.
2. Convictions Must Be Pre-Decided
Daniel didn’t wait until the moment to decide his obedience. He “resolved” beforehand.
Women who know their God must settle in their hearts: I will honor God no matter what.
3. God Gives Favor to the Faithful
When Daniel stood firm, God moved. He gave them favor, wisdom, strength, and influence.
Obedience positions us for God's supernatural help.
4. Faithfulness in Small Things Leads to Greater Influence
Daniel’s first test wasn’t a lion’s den — it was food. Small obedience opened the door for God to trust him with more.
5. God Is in Control Even in Captivity
Chapter 1 reminds us repeatedly:“God gave…” He gave Nebuchadnezzar power,He gave the young men knowledge, He gave Daniel influence. Even when the world looks out of control, God is still sovereign.
