🌸 A Call to the Battle of Prayer
Prayer is one of the most spiritual—and yet most difficult—disciplines.
We’ve all thought, “I wish I would pray more.” Maybe you’ve even said, “I want to be a prayer warrior.”
But prayer will almost always be the smallest group in any church.
Why? Because many don’t realize that prayer is a battle.
We sing, “This Is How I Fight My Battles,” and it’s true—our victory is found on our knees, in prayer and worship.
The enemy knows the power of prayer, so he works hard to keep us silent.
Our flesh resists it, too—it doesn’t want to be still before God.
Yet we are called to be strong and courageous women of God, resisting both the flesh and the devil. When the opportunity for prayer comes, we must push past our feelings and come boldly.
And when we come—we come believing, full of faith, and persistent.
Some may feel unworthy to pray, but we must remember:
Jesus tore the veil. He clothed us in righteousness.
We can come to the Father because of the blood of Jesus.
That’s why we love Him so much.
The God who created us wants to hear from us and have a relationship with us.
📖 What the Word Says About Prayer
We are commanded to:
🌿 The Fragrance of Prayer
In Revelation, we see a holy picture—golden bowls filled with incense, which are “the prayers of the saints” (Revelation 5:8).
These prayers rise before God, mixed with incense from the altar of sacrifice.
In the Old Testament, incense couldn’t burn without fire from the altar—it had to be lit by the fire of a sacrifice. That’s a picture of Jesus.
The fire that gives our prayers fragrance and power comes from the sacrifice of Christ Himself. Without the cross, our prayers could never reach the throne. But because Jesus gave Himself—the perfect sacrifice—our prayers now rise before God like a sweet-smelling aroma, accepted and heard.
📖 “The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand.” — Revelation 8:3–4
It’s not just incense—it’s our worship, our cries, our intercession—all carried upward by the fire that came from Jesus’ sacrifice.
✨ The Power Behind Our Prayers
Not only do we pray because of what Jesus did for us on the cross—
what He did on the cross changes everything about how we live and pray.
His sacrifice affects how we think, who we are, what we say, and how we pray.
We pray with power, because we know our prayers are backed by the blood of Christ.
That’s why the incense—the prayers—must come from the altar of sacrifice.
The fire that lights our prayers is the fire of His love.
The power that carries them is the power of His blood.
The fragrance that pleases God is the aroma of His Son in us.
💗 Reflection
When we pray, we’re not coming as strangers begging for attention—we’re daughters of the King, clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Every prayer we lift rises from the altar of His sacrifice, touched by His fire, carried by His Spirit, and received by our Father.
So when we kneel in prayer, heaven sees the blood of Jesus covering us. That’s why our prayers carry authority, why our worship has weight, and why our cries move the heart of God.
Let your prayers tonight rise with the fragrance of surrender and faith—the fragrance of Jesus’ love poured out.
Let His sacrifice fuel your intercession.
Let His Spirit fan the flame.
And let your heart know—your prayers matter.
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for the cross—for being the perfect sacrifice that tore the veil and made a way for us to come boldly before the Father.
Ignite our hearts with the fire of Your Spirit. Let our prayers rise like incense before Your throne, pure and pleasing in Your sight.
Teach us to pray from a place of faith, love, and surrender—knowing that every word we speak is covered by Your blood and powered by Your grace.
When we grow weary, remind us that prayer is our battleground—and that victory begins on our knees.
Let our voices fill heaven with worship and our lives carry the fragrance of Your presence.
In Your holy and powerful name we pray,
Amen.

Take a few quiet moments to sit with Jesus.
Ask Him:
- What is He saying to me about my prayer life?
- What needs to be rekindled at His altar?
- How can I let His sacrifice ignite my prayers with greater faith and passion?
