May 28th , 2025 Todays Reading Proverbs 7-9
May 28, 2025 Devotional -Today’s Reading: Proverbs 7–9
Scripture Focus:
“Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family.”
— Proverbs 7:1–4 NLT
“Listen as Wisdom calls out! Hear as understanding raises her voice! On the hilltop along the road, she takes her stand at the crossroads... Listen to me! For I have important things to tell you. Everything I say is right... I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment.”
— Proverbs 8:1–2, 6, 12 NLT
Scripture Observation:
Wisdom is not silent. She calls out loudly from the crossroads—the very places where we must make life-altering decisions. God’s Word reminds us that wisdom should not be a last resort but a constant companion, like a trusted sister or beloved friend. Proverbs 7 emphasizes the need to treasure and guard God’s commands, not just in theory but in how we live. Proverbs 8 reveals that wisdom isn’t hidden; she makes herself known to those willing to listen and value truth.
Devotion:
How often do we hear wisdom calling, yet ignore her voice because other voices feel louder, flashier, or more immediately gratifying? Proverbs 7–9 lays out a stark contrast: wisdom versus folly. One leads to life, honor, and understanding; the other to ruin, regret, and death. The call of wisdom isn’t a whisper in the background—it’s a bold cry at the crossroads. Every day we are faced with decisions, some small and others life-shaping. God, in His love, has provided guidance—not just in rules to follow, but in a relationship with Wisdom Himself, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:24).
To love wisdom is to love Jesus. And to walk in wisdom is to walk in obedience to His commands—not out of fear, but out of love, reverence, and trust. The instruction to “tie them on your fingers” and “write them deep within your heart” reminds us that wisdom isn’t for special occasions; it’s for everyday living. It must be internalized, not just memorized.
Lesson for Me:
I don’t want to be someone who waits until crisis hits to seek God’s wisdom. I want to walk in it daily. I want my children, and all who look to me for direction, to see that wisdom is not only available but beautiful, dependable, and worthy to be followed. The more I value wisdom, the more my life will reflect God’s glory and discernment.
Application Questions:
1. What “crossroads” decision am I currently facing that requires me to listen more closely to God’s wisdom?
2. How can I more intentionally “write God’s Word on my heart” this week?
3. Do I treat wisdom like a beloved companion—or more like a stranger I only consult in emergencies?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for not leaving me to figure out life on my own. Thank You for the voice of wisdom that calls out to me every day. Help me to treasure Your Word, to seek Your truth, and to trust Your direction—especially in the quiet moments when no one is watching. Make wisdom my companion, my joy, and my guide. Help me to reflect Your insight and love in all I do. Amen.
