Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 50–51; 3 John 1
Scripture Focus
Reflection
At first glance, Jeremiah 50–51 look like chapters filled only with doom for Babylon. But when we look closer, we see that these verses are really about who God is.
For Judah, sitting in captivity under Babylon’s shadow, these truths must have seemed impossible to believe. Yet the message was clear: Babylon’s power would end, because God’s power has no end.
It’s the same lesson He had been teaching them all along: Believe Me. Trust My promises. Know who I am. Walk in the confidence of My love. When trials feel endless, when Babylon looks undefeatable, when hope seems gone—God speaks. He points us back to His power, His promises, and His love.
Lesson for Me
Even in the darkest chapters, God reveals Himself. My hope isn’t in the rise or fall of earthly powers but in the unchanging strength, wisdom, and love of my God.
Application Questions
🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You for showing Yourself in every season—even in chapters of judgment and exile. You are my Creator, my Redeemer, my Defender, and my Judge. Help me to trust Your promises when my circumstances feel overwhelming. Teach me to walk in the confidence of Your love, believing that no Babylon lasts forever but that Your kingdom stands forever. Amen.
Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 50–51; 3 John 1
Scripture Focus
- God’s Creative Power — “The Lord made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens. When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.” —Jeremiah 51:15–16 (NLT)
- God’s Redeeming Power — “But the one who redeems them is strong; the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name. He will defend them and give them rest again in Israel. But for the people of Babylon there will be no rest!” —Jeremiah 50:34 (NLT)
- God’s Vindication — “The Lord has vindicated us. Come, let us announce in Jerusalem everything the Lord our God has done.” —Jeremiah 51:10 (NLT)
- God’s Uniqueness — “But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including his people, his own special possession. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name!” —Jeremiah 51:19 (NLT)
- God’s Final Judgment — “I will make her officials and wise men drunk, along with her captains, officers, and warriors. They will sleep forever and never wake up,” says the King, whose name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. —Jeremiah 51:57 (NLT)
