Today’s Reading
Ezekiel 12, 13, 14; Revelation 5

Scripture Focus
“So I did as I was told. In broad daylight I brought my pack outside, filled with the things I might carry into exile. Then in the evening while the people looked on, I dug through the wall with my hands and went out into the night with my pack on my shoulder. And when I scatter them among the nations, they will know that I am the Lord. But I will spare a few of them from death by war, famine, or disease, so they can confess all their detestable sins to their captors. Then they will know that I am the Lord. The cities will be destroyed and the farmland made desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’ For I am the Lord! If I say it, it will happen. There will be no more delays, you rebels of Israel. I will fulfill my threat of destruction in your own lifetime. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”
—Ezekiel 12:7, 15–16, 20, 25 NLT

“Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. And they sang in a mighty chorus:
‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain—
to receive power and riches
and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and blessing!’”
—Revelation 5:11–12 NLT

Reflection
Ezekiel’s visions remind us that God’s word is not idle talk—it is power, truth, and certainty. Over and over, God declares, “Then you will know that I am the Lord.” Whether through judgment, exile, or mercy, His purpose is always that His people recognize Him as Sovereign. He speaks with finality: “If I say it, it will happen. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”
The false prophets of Ezekiel’s day promised peace where there was no peace, patching flimsy walls with whitewash instead of standing in the gap. Their deceptions gave people false hope while leaving them vulnerable. God exposed them because He desires truth, not comfort built on lies. The same warning reaches us today: Are we listening to voices that soothe our flesh, or are we allowing God’s Word to confront us and lead us to life?
The leaders in chapter 14 had idols hidden in their hearts, yet they still wanted a word from God. But He will not be mocked. He refuses to be treated like a charm to be consulted while hearts cling to sin. His desire is not to push people away, but to cleanse them so they may truly be His and He their God.
In Revelation 5 we see the contrast—Jesus, the Lamb who was slain, is worthy to break the seals and open God’s plan for history. The elders and angels fall down in worship, declaring His worthiness. Where the idols of Ezekiel’s day brought destruction, the Lamb brings redemption and hope.
God still calls us to lay down deception, whitewashed walls, and hidden idols so that we may know Him in truth. When we surrender fully, we join the heavenly chorus, proclaiming: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain—to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!” (Rev. 5:12).

Lesson for Me
God’s Word is certain—if He says it, it will happen. The question is whether I will cling to empty comforts or submit fully to Him. My heart must be free from idols, my ears tuned to His truth, and my lips ready to join in the song of heaven.

Application Questions
  1. What voices am I listening to right now—God’s truth or whitewashed words that avoid confrontation?
  2. Are there hidden “idols of the heart” I need to surrender before God?
  3. How can I practically stand in the gap for others—repairing “walls” in prayer, discipleship, or encouragement?
  4. How does Revelation 5 inspire my worship today?

Prayer 🙏
Sovereign Lord, You alone speak truth, and Your Word never fails. Forgive me for the times I have listened to soothing lies instead of standing on Your promises. Expose any idols in my heart that keep me from knowing You fully. Cleanse me, Lord, so that I may be Yours, and You may be my God. Teach me to repair the broken walls in my life and in the lives of others through prayer and obedience. Today, I join the song of heaven—worthy is the Lamb who was slain! May my life be one long 🙌 of praise to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
