Reflection

Sisters,

We are not just reading history about Israel — we are learning about our God.

In Numbers 10, God commands Moses to make two silver trumpets. These were not musical instruments for entertainment. They were instruments of direction.

When the trumpet sounded:
•The people gathered.
•The camp moved.
•The leaders aligned.
•The army prepared.
•The feasts were marked.

Israel did not move randomly.
They moved when God spoke.

And notice something beautiful — the Ark of the Covenant went before them to search out a resting place. God did not follow His people. He led them.

Before they stepped forward…
He was already there.

Sisters, this is not just wilderness history.
This is a pattern.

God still:
•Calls.
•Directs.
•Warns.
•Gathers.
•Goes before His people.

The trumpets in Numbers are a shadow of a greater reality. In Revelation, trumpets sound again — announcing that heaven is directing earth. When God moves, He makes it known.

The question is not whether God is speaking.
The question is whether we are listening.

Then chapter 11 shifts the tone.

The same people who moved when the trumpet sounded began craving Egypt. They despised manna. They romanticized bondage. Their flesh grew louder than God’s voice.

The trumpet calls forward.
The flesh pulls backward.

Isn’t that still true?

We can know God is leading… and still long for what once enslaved us.

We can see His provision… and still complain.

We can watch Him go before us… and still resist His direction.

But Numbers reminds us:

God must go first.
His presence before our plans.
His voice before our movement.
His glory before our comfort.

We are not just learning about Israel.

We are learning that our God:
•Leads.
•Provides.
•Orders.
•Warns.
•Prepares resting places.
•And calls His people to trust Him fully.

Sisters… are we living trumpet-ready lives?

Are we sensitive to His leading?

Or are our cravings drowning out His call?

May we be women who move when He speaks…
and trust that wherever He leads, He has already gone before us.
