Leviticus 4–6
Acts 14

Scripture Focus

Leviticus 4:14 (NLT)

“When they become aware of their sin, the people must bring a young bull as an offering for their sin and present it before the Tabernacle.”

Reflection
Leviticus 4–6 teaches us that God is holy, sin is serious, and relationship with Him requires honesty, responsibility, and restoration. In chapter 4, God shows that no one is exempt from accountability—priests, leaders, the community, and individuals are all addressed. Even unintentional sin creates separation and must be dealt with in God’s presence. Sin cannot be ignored, minimized, or excused, because God is righteous. Yet woven through every instruction is mercy: God Himself provides a way for guilt to be removed so fellowship can be restored.

Chapter 5 draws us closer to God’s heart by showing His fairness and compassion. God does not assume His people instinctively know what sin is; He patiently reveals it according to His truth. Sins of ignorance, silence, carelessness, and neglect are named—not to condemn, but to teach. Once sin is made known, responsibility follows, yet never without provision. God even adjusts the offering so no one is excluded because of lack or status. Repentance is always within reach.

Chapter 6 continues by showing that forgiveness does not end with confession—it leads to restored worship and renewed obedience. God cares not only that sin is dealt with, but that relationship is repaired and His people walk forward in faithfulness. Together, these chapters remind us that God is both just and gracious: He reveals sin so it can be confessed, covered, and removed—never so it can be hidden.
All of this points us to Jesus. What was temporarily covered through repeated sacrifices has been fully dealt with through Christ, our perfect and final Sin Offering. God does not ignore sin—but He dealt with it completely at the cross.

Hebrews 9:12 (NLT)
“He entered the Most Holy Place once for all time, not by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, and thus secured our redemption forever.”

Hebrews 13:11–12 (NLT)
“Under the old system, the high priest brought the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin. And the bodies of the animals were burned outside the camp.
So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood.”

Lesson for Me
Leviticus 4–6 teaches me that while sin affects people differently based on responsibility and influence, it is never overlooked by God. Those given greater responsibility are held to a higher standard—not because God is unfair, but because greater light brings greater accountability. God is patient in revealing sin, but once truth is known, obedience is required. At the same time, God is rich in mercy: He always provides a way for repentance and restoration. These chapters point me to Jesus, who bore my guilt fully and permanently, calling me to walk humbly, take responsibility seriously, and live in grateful obedience.

Luke 12:48 (NLT)
“But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.”

Romans 3:25–26 (NLT)
“For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding

Examine My Heart

  • Have I treated sin lightly because it was unintentional or familiar?
  • Am I willing to take responsibility once God reveals truth to me?
  • Do I hide, minimize, or delay confession instead of bringing sin into God’s presence?
  • How does knowing the cost of forgiveness deepen my gratitude for Jesus?
  • Am I walking in restored obedience, not just forgiven relief?

Prayer 🙏
Holy and righteous God,
You are just, and You do not ignore sin—yet You are also merciful and kind. Thank You for revealing truth so that I may walk in the light and not remain unaware or hardened. Thank You for providing a way for restoration, not leaving me in guilt or shame. Thank You for Jesus, my perfect Sin Offering, who carried my sin fully and removed it completely. Teach me to walk humbly, to respond quickly when You correct me, and to live in obedience flowing from gratitude and love. I praise You 🙌 for Your holiness and Your mercy. Amen.

Journal Reminder
Sit quietly with Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything He wants to address—whether known or hidden. Write what He speaks until your thoughts pause. Reread what you’ve written, and respond in obedience and trust.
Begin with: “My little lamb…” or “Dear daughter…”
