— Psalm 46:1–2a NLT 🙌
Reflection 💔➡️🙌
Sisters, today’s reading is heavy—but it’s real. The chaos, violence, destruction, and suffering that Israel and Judah experienced weren’t without cause. The Word tells us plainly:
“This disaster came upon the people of Israel because they worshiped other gods.” (2 Kings 17:7)
They had compromised. They secretly did what was evil in God’s sight. They followed the world’s ways, even while going through the motions of worship.
And God warned them—over and over. He pleaded:
“Turn from all your evil ways. Obey My commands.”
But the people would not listen.
Before we shake our heads at them, we have to ask ourselves:
Are we doing the same?
Are we saying we love God but still clinging to the world?
Still following our own ways? Still resisting surrender?
Some trials in life are simply part of a fallen world.
But sometimes, God allows trials as discipline—
not to destroy us,
but to call us back. He disciplines those He loves. (Hebrews 12:6)
The good news?
Psalm 46 reminds us: God is our refuge. 🙌
Not just when everything’s fine—but when we’ve messed up, when we’ve strayed, when the consequences hit hard.
“The righteous man falls seven times, but the Lord lifts him up.” (Proverbs 24:16)
So even if we’ve wandered, even if we’ve been stubborn, we can still turn back.
God’s arms are open. His mercy is ready.
His peace is waiting—not for the perfect, but for the surrendered.
Lesson for Me:
If I’m walking through fire, I need to ask:
Is this a refining trial… or a loving wake-up call?
Either way, I can turn to God—and He will lift me up.
Application Questions for Journaling:
- Am I giving God my whole heart—or is compromise still hiding in the corners?
- In what ways might I be “following the world’s example” instead of Jesus’?
- What would full surrender look like in my life today?
Prayer 🙏
Lord, I don’t want to just worship You with words—I want my life to honor You. If I’ve been compromising, forgive me. If I’ve wandered, bring me back. I don’t want to follow the world’s ways—I want to walk in Your truth. Help me to trust You fully, obey You completely, and find my peace only in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
