Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 29–31 & James 4

🙌 Scripture Focus:

“He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, just as his ancestor David had done.”
—2 Chronicles 29:2 NLT

“So the Temple of the Lord was restored to service. And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people, for everything had been accomplished so quickly.”
—2 Chronicles 29:35b–36 NLT

“There was great joy in the city, for Jerusalem had not seen a celebration like this one since the days of Solomon son of David, king of Israel.”
—2 Chronicles 30:26 NLT

🤔 Reflection:
All it takes is one person fully surrendered to the Lord — and revival can break out.
Hezekiah was just twenty-five when he became king, but he was raised by a godly mother, Abijah, who passed on a reverence for God even in the midst of national corruption. From the very start, the Word says “He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight.” And that set everything in motion.
His life became a chain reaction of obedience:
  • ✅ He did what pleased the Lord →
  • 🧹 He cleansed the temple →
  • 🔥 He restored worship and offerings →
  • 🙌 He led the people in praise →
  • 🎉 Joy and revival broke out in the land.
It began with one decision: to stop compromising and start consecrating.
He didn’t just remove idols from public places — he commanded the Levites to remove the filth from God’s house. In response, praise filled the air. Healing and unity came to the people. And joy overflowed like a flood.
And then came the invitation:

“Do not be stubborn… submit yourselves to the Lord… worship the Lord your God… return to Him… for He is gracious and merciful.”
(2 Chronicles 30:8–9)

What a beautiful reminder: when we return, He receives us. He doesn’t stay distant. He doesn’t hold back mercy.
He restores.

💡 Lesson for Me:
Sometimes we wonder why our praise feels dry…
Why our joy feels weak…
Why our spiritual walk feels cluttered or powerless…
Could it be there’s something in our hearts — in our inner temple — that needs cleansing?
When we let go of what doesn’t please the Lord…
When we invite Him to purify and restore…
🙌 Praise flows again.
🎉 Joy returns.
💪 Strength rises.

📌 Application Questions:
  1. Is there anything in my life that I’ve tolerated — even though I know it doesn’t please the Lord?
  2. What would it look like to “cleanse the temple” of my heart today?
  3. Where do I need to trade compromise for courageous obedience?
  4. Am I willing to be the “one surrendered leader” in my home, church, or community — like Hezekiah?

🙏 Prayer:
Father, cleanse me. I don’t want to hold onto anything that dishonors You — even if it’s familiar, comfortable, or culturally accepted. I want to do what is pleasing in Your sight, like Hezekiah did. Purify the temple of my heart and restore the joy of my salvation. Let my life overflow with praise that draws others to You. And give me the courage to lead in obedience, even if no one else goes with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
