Today’s Reading: Song of Solomon Chapters 1–4
Eph. 6

Scripture Focus
“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” – Song of Solomon 2:16

“Catch all the foxes, those little foxes, before they ruin the vineyard of love, for the grapevines are blossoming!” – Song of Solomon 2:15

“You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain.” – Song of Solomon 4:12

Scripture Observation
These chapters are filled with poetic expressions of love between a bride and her beloved, overflowing with admiration, pursuit, intimacy, and longing. The bride sees herself as both “dark and lovely”—humble, yet chosen. The vineyard and garden imagery speak to personal growth and spiritual devotion. Words like rose (שׁוֹשַׁנָּה, shoshanah), voice (קוֹל, kol), and foxes (שׁוּעָלִים, shu'alim) reveal hidden meanings: beauty, communication, and the need to guard our spiritual lives. We see a bride pursued, delighted in, and ultimately invited into a place of rest and belonging.

Application
This passage is not just about human love; it’s a powerful picture of Jesus’ love for us—pure, intimate, and full of pursuit. He calls us His own. He longs to hear our voice in prayer. He reminds us to guard our vineyard—our heart and walk with Him—from the “little foxes” of distraction, bitterness, and sin. We are not forgotten or unwanted—we are a locked garden, cherished, reserved for Him alone. This love isn’t performance-based—it’s rooted in delight, devotion, and identity.

What About Me?
- Am I resting in the truth that I am beloved by Jesus, not for what I do, but for who I am to Him?
- What “little foxes” are threatening to spoil my vineyard—my spiritual health or time with the Lord?
- Am I letting Jesus speak to me through His Word and responding in return with my voice, my worship, my surrender?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me Your beloved. Thank You for pursuing me with a love that is stronger than death. Help me to rest in Your delight and not run after empty things that spoil what You’re growing in me. Teach me to treasure our time together, to hear Your voice clearly, and to speak freely with You in return. Help me guard my heart, my time, and my devotion. I want to be a garden enclosed—pure, set apart, and flourishing in Your presence. Let the fragrance of my life be pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
