📝 Devotional: God Wants to Be Known

Wow! Can you believe how much of God’s heart is on display in just these few chapters?
From oil jars to healing rivers, from private pain to public miracles—God’s greatness, compassion, and majesty are written across every story. These aren’t fairy tales. They’re true-life testimonies of how God met people in their need—and how He still works today.

📖 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8

💡 God Meets Us in Our Desperation
The widow had no power, no resources—but she feared the Lord and cried out in faith. God multiplied what little she had and set her family free.
Psalm 34:17 – “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them…”
Matthew 14:19–20 – Like the feeding of the five thousand, Jesus took what was small (loaves and fish), gave thanks, and multiplied it—with leftovers.
💡 God Does the Impossible in Hopeless Situations
The Shunammite woman never even asked for a child—but God gave her one. And when that child died, she didn’t surrender to despair. She ran to the man of God, and God did the impossible: He brought the child back to life.
📖 “What is impossible for people is possible with God.” – Luke 18:27
John 11:43–44 – Jesus calls Lazarus out of the grave after four days. Death is no match for God.
💡 God Provides in Every Situation
From poisoned stew to feeding a hundred men with leftovers—God showed that He is more than enough. Everything happened just as the Lord had promised.
Philippians 4:19 – "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
💡 God Heals the Proud and the Outsider
Naaman expected a grand, showy healing—but God required humble obedience. After he submitted, he was healed and his heart was changed.
Ephesians 2:12–13 – "Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near by the blood of Christ."

✨ Overlay Theme:
Whether facing debt, death, despair, pride, or poison—God is able.
He sees. He hears. He acts. He restores.

✝️ Where Is Jesus in These Stories?
In every one of these accounts, we see shadows of Jesus—the greater Prophet who was to come:
  • Like the widow’s oil and the multiplied stew, Jesus multiplies what is small to meet great need. (Matthew 14:19–20)
  • Like the Shunammite’s son, Jesus raises the dead and restores what seems hopeless. (John 11:43–44)
  • Like Naaman, Jesus heals both body and soul, calling all people to believe and be made new. (Luke 5:12–13)
  • Like Elisha removing the poison, Jesus removes sin and death, bringing healing through Himself. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Jesus is the fulfillment of every miracle. He is the ultimate revelation of God’s heart. Through Him, God makes Himself known not just to Israel, but to the whole world.
📖 “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being…” – Hebrews 1:3
📖 “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” – John 1:4

❤️ Lesson for Me:
God doesn’t just want to fix our situations. He wants to make Himself known.
These stories aren’t just about miracles—they’re about a God who reveals His heart in every act of grace.

The Israelites didn’t have TV or news—they had the Word, read aloud and passed down through storytelling. These miracles weren’t unfamiliar to them. So when Jesus came and did the very same things God had done through the prophets—multiplying food, healing lepers, raising the dead—how could they not see that He was God in the flesh? But many didn’t. And today, we can miss Him too. We can become blind to the way the Holy Spirit is moving in our lives, simply because it doesn’t look the way we expected.
Lord, help us not just to know the stories, but to recognize You in our own.

💬 Application Questions:
1. Which story did I relate to most—why?
2. Have I seen God work in my life like this before?
3. Is there something I need to give to God in obedience today—no matter how small it seems?
4. What part of my life needs the reminder: “God still does this”?🙏 To the Sister Who’s Struggling to Believe It’s for You:

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You don’t change. You were faithful to the widow, the woman, the prophets, and Naaman—and You are faithful to me. Help me believe that Your promises are still true, even for me. Fill my heart with faith and my life with obedience. Be known in me, and through me, today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

🙏 To the Sister Who’s Struggling to Believe It’s for You:
My sister, my friend—maybe as you’ve read these stories of jars being filled, sons being raised, lepers being healed—you’ve quietly whispered, “That’s beautiful… but that was for them.”
    Maybe deep down, you’re thinking:
“I’m just having a hard time believing He will work like that in my life.”
    “I’ve waited too long.”
    “My situation is too complicated.”
“God doesn’t move like that anymore.”
“I don’t think I have the faith to believe things will change.”
But let me gently remind you:
The same God who saw the widow’s empty jars sees your emptiness.
The same God who heard the Shunammite woman’s hidden longing hears your silent cries.
The same God who healed Naaman’s incurable condition can restore the brokenness in your life.
    He hasn’t changed.
He didn’t run out of mercy when He blessed them.
And His power isn’t locked in the past.
📖 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8
📖 “The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is His ear too deaf to hear you call.” – Isaiah 59:1
    He is still the Provider.
    Still the Healer.
Still the One who sees, who knows, and who acts.
And yes, this is for you.
Not because you’ve earned it, but because He loves you.
Because He wants you to know Him—not just know about Him.
So today, would you open your hands—like that widow did—and say,
    “Lord, I don’t have much… but I give You what I have”?
Would you dare to hope—like the woman who clung to Elisha and said,
“I won’t leave unless You come with me”?
Would you listen again—like Naaman—who almost missed his miracle because of disappointment?
Because if you do, you might just find…
God was waiting for you to turn.
    To believe.
    To receive.
You have a testimony of God’s goodness. Each of us has had moments where God touched our lives in powerful ways. Take time today to recall the ways you've seen God move—and then trust Him for even greater things to come. Give Him your cares today.
