Todays Reading & Title:
She Saved a King… and Preserved the King of Kings

📖  2 Kings 10, 2 Chronicles 22–23, 1 Timothy 5

🔑 Focus Verse:
“She must be well respected by everyone because of the good she has done. Has she brought up her children well? Has she been kind to strangers and served other believers humbly? Has she helped those who are in trouble? Has she always been ready to do good?”
— 1 Timothy 5:10 NLT

💔 Two Women. Two Legacies.

Reading through today’s Old Testament passages feels like walking through a battlefield.
It’s dark. Bloody. Grievous.
Kings killing kings. A queen murdering her own grandchildren.
Evil rising. Power being grasped at no matter the cost.

And then — a spark of light.
A woman.
Not a prophet. Not a warrior. Not even a mother.

Just a woman who made a holy decision.
She chose life when death was ruling.
She chose faithfulness when fear ruled the land.
She chose to hide a child — Joash — in the Temple of God for six years.

Her name? Jehosheba.
Because of her, the line of David was preserved.
And generations later — Jesus would be born from that same royal line.

She didn’t just save a king.

✝️ She helped preserve the coming of the King of Kings.

👑 Athaliah vs. Jehosheba
•Both women had access to power.
•Both were connected to royalty.
•Both had influence.

But only one used her position for God’s glory — not her own.

Athaliah chose power and murdered for it.
Jehosheba chose purpose and protected life.

🌿 Enter 1 Timothy 5

Paul tells Timothy what kind of woman should be honored among the church — especially among widows who lived for God.

Not flashy.
Not loud.
Not powerful in the world’s eyes.
But faithful. Selfless. Pure. Honorable.

Paul’s words become a beautiful description of Jehosheba:
•✅ She did good.
•✅ She served others humbly.
•✅ She helped those in trouble.
•✅ She was ready to do good.
•✅ She preserved life for the sake of God’s promise.

And maybe that’s the heart of today’s lesson:

💬 A Question for Us as Women

In a world still full of bloodshed, betrayal, and a craving for power…

Will we live like Athaliah — grabbing control, destroying what threatens our comfort, and exalting ourselves?

Or will we live like Jehosheba — faithful, hidden if necessary, but always available for God’s purposes?

💖 God isn’t looking for famous women. He’s looking for faithful ones.
💖 Women who choose life. Who protect promise. Who live for His pleasure, not the world’s applause.

✍🏽 Application Questions:
1.Am I willing to be used by God — even if no one sees it but Him?
2.Are there “kings” (children, promises, ministries) in my life that I need to protect?
3.Do I crave power or position more than I crave God’s purpose?
4.Am I honoring the call in 1 Timothy 5 to live in a way that pleases God and serves others?

🙏🏽 Prayer:

Lord, help me be a woman like Jehosheba — faithful in the shadows, bold in obedience, and devoted to Your plan. I don’t need to be known by the world; I just want to be found faithful by You. Help me to choose life, serve others, and protect what You’ve entrusted to me — for Your glory, not mine. Amen.
