Today’s Reading:
Joshua 3–6 & 1 Corinthians 4

Scripture Focus

Joshua 3:3–4 (NLT)
“giving these instructions to the people: ‘When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, move out from your positions and follow them. Since you have never traveled this way before, they will guide you. Stay about half a mile behind them, keeping a clear distance between you and the Ark. Make sure you don’t come any closer.’”

Joshua 3:10–11 (NLT)
“Today you will know that the living God is among you. He will surely drive out the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites ahead of you. Look, the Ark of the Covenant, which belongs to the Lord of the whole earth, will lead you across the Jordan River!”

Joshua 4:7 (NLT)
“Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.”

Joshua 4:14 (NLT)
“That day the Lord made Joshua a great leader in the eyes of all the Israelites, and for the rest of his life they revered him as much as they had revered Moses.”

Joshua 4:24 (NLT)
“He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the Lord’s hand is powerful, and so you might fear the Lord your God forever.”

Reflection

My dear sister,

After 40 years of wandering… they finally crossed the Jordan.

What a powerful moment. What a display of God’s faithfulness, His timing, and His promise being fulfilled.

But as I sat with this passage, the Lord gently shifted my focus. Yes, the miracle is incredible—but what He impressed on my heart was the leadership behind the movement.

God made Joshua a great leader.

And that caused me to pause and reflect…

Because we may not be leading a nation or an army—but we are leading.
As women, we lead in our homes, with our children, in our workplaces, in our ministries, and in the quiet places where God has entrusted people and responsibilities into our care.

So what made Joshua great?

It wasn’t that he had no fear.
We know he struggled—because God repeatedly told him, “Be strong and courageous.”

So it wasn’t natural confidence.

It was something much deeper.

Joshua became a great leader because:

He took his direction from the Lord.
He listened carefully to God’s voice.
He obeyed fully—even when it didn’t make sense.
And he trusted God with confidence, because he had seen what God had already done.

Joshua knew God was worthy—worthy of trust, worthy of obedience, and worthy of complete loyalty.

And that changed the way he led.

In Joshua 3, the people were told something so important:

“You have never traveled this way before…”

Isn’t that true for us?

There are seasons, decisions, and paths in our lives where we can honestly say—we’ve never been this way before.

So what were they instructed to do?

Follow the Ark—the presence of God.

They were not to rush ahead.
They were not to lag behind.
They were to keep their eyes on the presence of God and follow His lead.

And that is the key.

Joshua led well because he first followed well.

What Made Joshua a Great Leader
•He trusted God’s direction, even when the path was unfamiliar
•He obeyed specific instructions, even when they didn’t make sense (like stepping into the Jordan before it parted, or marching around Jericho)
•He remembered what God had done and established reminders (the stones of remembrance)
•He allowed God to establish him—he did not strive to establish himself
•He walked in reverence, knowing God’s power and presence were what set him apart

Lesson for Me

If I want to lead well…

I must follow God closely.

If I want to walk in victory…

I cannot depend on my own understanding—I must trust His voice, His timing, and His way.

Victory did not come through human strategy.
It came through obedience to God’s instructions.

And the same is true for us.

If we want to conquer the areas in our lives that feel overwhelming…
If we want to walk in victory over fear, doubt, sin, or uncertainty…

We must live a life that is:

Listening.
Following.
Trusting.
Obeying.

Now it’s time to examine my heart ❤️

Ask yourself:
•Am I truly following God’s lead, or am I trying to move ahead of Him?
•Where is God asking me to step forward in faith, even though I feel unsure or afraid?
•Am I obeying completely, or only when it feels comfortable or makes sense to me?
•What has God done in my life that I need to remember and hold onto?
•Am I leading others closer to God by the way I live, speak, and respond?

Prayer 🙏

Lord,

You are the living God who goes before me.
You make a way where there seems to be no way.

Help me to follow You closely.
Teach me to keep my eyes on You, especially in seasons where I have never walked before.

Give me courage when I feel afraid.
Give me faith when I don’t understand.
And give me a heart that obeys You fully—not partially, not conditionally, but completely.

Establish me as a woman who leads well because she follows You well.

Let my life be a testimony of Your power, Your presence, and Your faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Journaling Reminder ✍️

Sit quietly with Jesus.
Listen for the Holy Spirit.
Write what He is speaking to your heart—what He wants you to change, strengthen, or surrender.

Begin with:
“My little lamb…” or “Dear daughter…”

Write until your thoughts pause… then reread what He has spoken. 💛
