Reflection

Joshua 12–14 shows us something we cannot miss—God had already given great victory, yet there was still more to conquer.

Thirty-one kings defeated. That is powerful. That is evidence of God’s faithfulness, His strength, and His promises being fulfilled.

But right in the middle of victory… we see a warning.

God said He would drive out the remaining enemies. The victory was not dependent on Israel’s strength, but on His. Yet they failed to fully drive them out—and those enemies remained among them.

This is where it speaks directly to us.

We are not fighting flesh and blood (see Ephesians 6:12). Our battles are spiritual:
•Our flesh—our desires, pride, and self-will
•Self-reliance instead of dependence on God
•The world system trying to shape our thinking and priorities
•The enemy—who constantly schemes, deceives, and looks for ways to trap us

We may have victories in some areas of our life… but still have areas left unconquered.

And what we don’t drive out…
we begin to live with.

What we tolerate…
eventually influences us.

God is calling us to keep going.
To not stop halfway.
To not make peace with what He has called us to remove.

Because partial obedience leaves room for future defeat.

But then we see Caleb.

While others settled, Caleb stayed fully devoted. He didn’t shrink back with time. He didn’t grow passive. He didn’t say, “I’ve done enough.”

He said, in Joshua 14, “Give me the mountain.”

Even at 85 years old—he was still ready to take what God promised.

That kind of faith doesn’t happen overnight. That comes from a life of loyalty, trust, and wholehearted devotion to God.

God is still saying to us today:
Be strong. Be courageous. Keep fighting.

Because He is the One who gives the victory.

Lesson for Me

God has already given me victory through Jesus—but I must continue to walk in it daily.

I cannot allow compromise, sin, or worldly thinking to remain in my life. What I leave behind today can become a stronghold tomorrow.

I want to be like Caleb—faithful, fully devoted, and willing to keep pressing forward no matter how long it takes.

Examine My Heart

Now it’s time to examine my heart…
•What areas of my life have I not fully surrendered to God?
•What “enemies” have I allowed to remain that God is calling me to remove?
•Where have I become comfortable with compromise?
•Am I relying on my own strength instead of God’s power?
•How is the world influencing my thinking more than God’s Word?
•Do I have the same faith and perseverance as Caleb?

Prayer 🙏

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the victories You have already given me. Thank You for going before me and fighting on my behalf.

Lord, reveal anything in my life that does not belong—anything I have tolerated that You are calling me to remove. Give me the courage to deal with it fully and not stop halfway.

Help me not to rely on myself, but to depend completely on You. Strengthen me to stand against my flesh, the world, and the enemy. Open my eyes to the schemes around me and give me wisdom to walk in truth.

Make me like Caleb—faithful, strong, and fully devoted to You. Let my heart not grow weary, but remain steady in trusting Your promises.

Finish what You started in me, Lord. Drive out everything that hinders, and lead me into the fullness of Your will.

In Jesus’ name, amen. 🙏

📝 Journaling Reminder:
Sit quietly before the Lord. Listen for the Holy Spirit. Begin writing what He speaks to your heart—what needs to be removed, what needs to grow stronger, and where He is calling you to keep fighting. Write until your thoughts begin to slow, then read it back and respond. You may begin with, “My little lamb…” or “Dear daughter…” 💛
