Today’s Reading
1 Kings 6 -2 Chronicles 3- Psalm 97
Romans 1

Scripture Focus

“The Temple that King Solomon built for the Lord was 90 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 45 feet high. The entry room at the front of the Temple was 30 feet wide, running across the entire width of the Temple. It projected outward 15 feet from the front of the Temple.”
— 1 Kings 6:2–3 NLT

Reflection

My sisters, if we read through 1 Kings 6 quickly, we can miss so much significance, spiritual meaning, and what God is trying to show us in the details of the building of the Temple of God.

At first glance, these chapters can almost seem like architectural notes:
measurements…
wood…
stones…
pillars…
gold…
rooms…
curtains…

But every detail matters.

Nothing in God’s Word is random.

Solomon did not build God’s Temple carelessly. Everything had order, measurement, structure, and purpose because the Temple represented the dwelling place of a holy God.

And what struck my heart deeply is this:

God is just as intentional with us.

Today, believers are called the temple of the Holy Spirit.

The glory that once filled a building now dwells in those who belong to Jesus.

“Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?”
— 1 Corinthians 3:16

That changes how we live.

God does not casually build His people.
He carefully forms us with purpose, holiness, wisdom, and design.

Even the stones of the Temple preach a message to us.

Scripture Focus

“The stones used in the construction of the Temple were finished at the quarry, so there was no sound of hammer, ax, or any other iron tool at the building site.”
— 1 Kings 6:7 NLT

Reflection

This verse is so powerful because of both the practical wisdom and the spiritual picture behind it.

The stones were completely shaped and prepared before they arrived at the Temple site.

No loud hammering.
No chiseling.
No cutting.

Everything had already been prepared beforehand.

What a picture of how God works in our lives.

God shapes His people before placing them into His work.

Sometimes our “quarry seasons” are painful:
the cutting…
the pressure…
the refining…
the hidden work no one sees…

But God is fitting us carefully into His spiritual house.

Peter later writes:

“And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple.”
— 1 Peter 2:5

Nothing is wasted.
Every cut has purpose.
Every trial shapes us.
Every season prepares us.

And one day, what felt painful in the quarry will reveal the beauty of what God was building all along.

There is also something deeply reverent here:
the Temple site was quiet.

The dwelling place of God was approached with awe, peace, and honor—not chaos and noise.

Some commentators point out:

* human striving was not the focus
* God’s design was already determined
* the builders simply assembled what had been prepared

What a reminder that God already knows what He is building in our lives.

Scripture Focus

“The entire building was completed in every detail by midautumn, in the month of Bul, during the eleventh year of his reign. So it took seven years to build the Temple.”
— 1 Kings 6:38 NLT

Reflection

The number seven throughout Scripture often symbolizes:

* completion
* fullness
* perfection
* fulfillment

So the Temple taking seven years to complete reflects far more than construction timing.

It points to:

* God’s perfect order
* His complete work
* a finished dwelling place prepared for His presence

And what encouragement this gives us personally.

God completes what He begins.

The Temple was not rushed.
It was built according to God’s pattern, in God’s timing, and brought to completion exactly as intended.

That is often how God works in us too.

Sometimes we become discouraged because we are still “under construction.”

But Philippians 1:6 reminds us:

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished…”

Sister, God is not finished with you yet.

Scripture Focus

“For the front of the Temple, he made two pillars… He named the one on the south Jakin, and the one on the north Boaz.”
— 2 Chronicles 3:15,17 NLT

Reflection

These two pillars carried powerful meaning.

Jachin means:
“He establishes.”

Boaz means:
“In Him is strength.”

Together, they proclaim a beautiful message:

“God will establish in His strength.”

Imagine entering the Temple and seeing those names standing at the entrance to the house of God.

Before the people worshipped, they were reminded:

* God is the One who establishes
* God is the source of strength
* stability does not come from man
* the kingdom stands because of Him

And remember when this Temple was built:
Solomon’s kingdom was at its height:

* peace
* wealth
* influence
* power

Yet the entrance silently declared:

“This is not because of Solomon.
It is because of God.”

And honestly, that ministers to my heart so deeply.

How often do we try to establish ourselves?
Our homes…
our ministries…
our plans…
our future…
our reputation…

But Scripture reminds us:

“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted.”
— Psalm 127:1

God is still our Jachin.
He establishes.

God is still our Boaz.
In Him is strength.

Even these pillars point us toward Jesus:

* He establishes His Church
* He strengthens His people
* He holds everything together

Scripture Focus

“May all who are godly rejoice in the Lord and praise his holy name!”
— Psalm 97:12 NLT

Reflection

Psalm 97 shifts our eyes upward.

After reading about the beauty and glory of the Temple, we are reminded that buildings themselves were never the true focus.

The focus has always been God.

His holiness.
His greatness.
His majesty.
His presence.

Romans 1 also reminds us that creation itself reveals the invisible qualities of God:
His eternal power,
His divine nature,
His glory.

Everything points back to Him.

The Temple…
the pillars…
the gold…
the cherubim…
the silence…
the measurements…
the craftsmanship…

All of it was declaring:
“God is worthy.”

And now our lives should declare the same thing.

Lesson for Me

God is intentionally building my life as His dwelling place.

Even the difficult seasons are shaping me for His purposes.

He establishes me.
He strengthens me.
He completes what He begins.

My life should reflect the beauty, order, holiness, and glory of the God who dwells within me.

Application Questions

1. Am I allowing God to shape me during difficult “quarry” seasons?
2. Are there areas of my life that lack order, surrender, or holiness?
3. Am I trying to establish myself in my own strength instead of depending on God?
4. What details in God’s Word have I been rushing past without slowing down to meditate on them?
5. Does my life reflect the worth and holiness of the God who dwells within me?

Prayer 🙏

Father, thank You for caring about every detail. Thank You that Your Word is alive and full of meaning far beyond what we first see on the surface. Help me not to rush through Scripture carelessly, but to slow down and meditate on what You are revealing about Yourself.

Lord, shape me like those stones prepared for Your Temple. Even in difficult seasons, help me trust that You are refining me intentionally and lovingly. Teach me to surrender to Your work in my life instead of resisting Your hands.

You alone establish me.
You alone are my strength.

Build my life according to Your design and let everything in me bring You glory. May my life reflect the beauty, holiness, wisdom, and worth of the God who dwells within me.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen. 🙏

Journaling Reminder

Sit quietly with Jesus today and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what He is building in your life right now. Write down what He speaks to your heart. Keep writing until your thoughts become still. Then reread what you wrote and pray over it.

You may begin with:
“My little lamb…”
or
“Dear daughter…”
