Today’s Reading:
Job 19; Mark 1–2
Scripture Focus:
“For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!”
— Job 19:25–27 NKJV
⸻
Reflection — “The Redeemer Job Longed For”
Job stood in the ashes of grief with nothing left but faith. His body was failing, his friends misunderstood him, and heaven seemed silent—yet he declared, “I know that my Redeemer lives.”
That word Redeemer (Hebrew go’el) means the one who defends, rescues, and restores. Even before the cross, Job’s eyes looked forward to a living Deliverer who would one day stand upon the earth and make all things right. His confidence wasn’t built on circumstances but on covenant—he trusted that God was alive, faithful, and able to redeem every loss.
When we turn to Mark 1–2, we see the very fulfillment of Job’s faith walking among us—Jesus, the living Redeemer. He stands on the earth healing the sick, forgiving sins, calling the broken, touching lepers, eating with outcasts, and proclaiming that the Kingdom of God has come near. What Job believed by faith, the disciples witnessed with their eyes.
Through Jesus, we see the same Redeemer who restores what sin and sorrow destroyed. The One Job yearned to behold now reaches out His hand and says, “Follow Me.”
⸻
Lesson for Me
When I’m surrounded by pain or misunderstanding, my confidence rests in this same truth: My Redeemer lives.
He is not distant; He stands near—healing, forgiving, restoring, and redeeming. Like Job, I can say, “This I know.”
⸻
Application Questions
•What does it mean for me personally that my Redeemer lives today?
•In what areas of my life do I need to let Jesus “stand” and take His rightful place?
•How can I live with the same unshakable faith that Job had before he saw the outcome?
⸻
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the Redeemer Job longed for and the Savior my heart depends on. When life feels broken or uncertain, remind me that You are alive, active, and standing over every circumstance. Redeem what has been lost, heal what is wounded, and help me walk in confident hope. My Redeemer lives—thank You, Lord! Amen.
⸻
🕊️ Journaling Reminder
Take a quiet moment with Jesus today. Write about what “My Redeemer lives” means to you personally. Where have you seen His redeeming hand in your own story—and where do you still need to trust Him to restore?
Takeaway
Even in the ashes, Job’s hope was alive—because his Redeemer was alive. The same Jesus who stood on the earth in Mark 1–2 still stands for us today, redeeming, restoring, and reminding us that faith anchored in the living Christ can withstand any storm.
