Today’s Reading: Daniel 7–8; Psalm 137; Luke

Scripture Focus

“He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal—it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed.”
— Daniel 7:14 (NLT)

“But in the end, the holy people of the Most High will be given the kingdom, and they will rule forever and ever.”
— Daniel 7:18 (NLT)

“Until the Ancient One—the Most High—came and judged in favor of his holy people. Then the time arrived for the holy people to take over the kingdom.”
— Daniel 7:22 (NLT)

“Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will last forever, and all rulers will serve and obey him.”
— Daniel 7:27 (NLT)

Reflection

Reading Daniel 7 and 8, we see how God gave Daniel visions of kingdoms rising and falling hundreds of years before they happened. Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and even the cruel reign of Antiochus Epiphanes were all revealed in advance. History confirms that every detail unfolded exactly as God said. This proves His Word is certain—prophecy fulfilled in the past guarantees prophecy still to come will also be fulfilled.

But these chapters also highlight a critical truth: the kingdom is given to “the holy people of the Most High.” It does not belong to those who only claim faith with their lips, but to those who obey and walk faithfully with Jesus. Jesus Himself warned: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father” (Matthew 7:21–23). Many treat faith like fire insurance, thinking belief without obedience secures them. But true belief clings to, trusts in, relies on, and obeys Christ. Real faith bears the fruit of obedience.

Just as in Noah’s day, people ignored the warning until judgment fell, so it will be again. The question is not if God’s Word will come to pass—it surely will—but whether my life gives testimony that I truly belong to Him.

Lesson for Me

God’s eternal kingdom is reserved for His holy people—those who obey and walk faithfully with Him. Mere words or outward claims will not stand in the day of judgment. Genuine faith shows itself in obedience. As James 2:17 reminds us: “So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.”

Application Questions
1.Am I living as one of God’s holy people, or am I relying on “fire insurance” without true obedience?
2.Where in my life do my actions need to better reflect my faith in Jesus?
3.How can I witness to others—like Daniel’s prophecies do—that God’s Word is trustworthy and certain?
4.If I stood before Jesus today, would my testimony reflect a life of faithfulness, ready to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant”?

Prayer 🙏

Lord, thank You that Your Word always comes to pass. Thank You for showing us through Daniel that history unfolds exactly as You have spoken, and that every promise and warning is true. Search my heart and remove any false security. Help me not to just talk about faith but to live it out in obedience, so my life bears witness that I belong to You. Keep me faithful until the end, and may I be found among Your holy people who inherit the kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Takeaway

Prophecy proves God’s Word is true. His kingdom will come, His judgment is certain, and His reward is real. Only those who walk faithfully with Him will inherit it.
