Today’s Reading: Ezekiel 22, 23, 24

Scripture Focus

...........They never even think of me and my commands, says the Sovereign Lord. How strong and courageous will you be in my day of reckoning? I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do what I said.”
— Ezekiel 22:12, 14 NLT

“Your priests have violated my instructions and defiled my holy things. They make no distinction between what is holy and what is not… Your leaders are like wolves who tear apart their victims. They actually destroy people’s lives for money!”
— Ezekiel 22:26–27 NLT

“I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one.”
— Ezekiel 22:30 NLT

Message
Ladies, when I read these chapters, I see God’s mercy all over it. He’s so fair and just that He keeps sending prophets, over and over, to warn His people. His heart is that they would repent, but they just won’t.
And here’s what stands out to me:
  • God says “they never even think of me or my commands.” That shows us how far their hearts had drifted. They were so proud in their own strength that they thought they could stand on their own—but when the day of reckoning came, all that pride crumbled. Isn’t that just like us sometimes? We think we’re strong, but apart from Him, we’re nothing.
  • He also says the priests stopped teaching the difference between what was holy and what was unholy. They blurred the lines. And the leaders—who were supposed to shepherd—became wolves. Sisters, that’s why God calls us to be holy, set apart, different. Because if we blur the line, the world will think compromise is acceptable in the church.
  • And then there’s that picture of Egypt. When God delivered them, they didn’t leave Egypt’s idols behind. They carried their worldliness right into their relationship with Him. That happens today. People get saved, but instead of leaving the old life, they drag it right into the church. And what happens? It affects others. It spreads. It makes others think it’s okay to mix the world with the things of God.

But then—this hits me—God says He searched for someone to stand in the gap and found no one. That word gap in Hebrew (peretz) means a breach in the wall, a break, an opening where the city is vulnerable. Spiritually, it’s where sin and compromise have left us unprotected. God was looking for someone to step in—to intercede, to guard, to rebuild righteousness. And He couldn’t find one.

Lesson for Us
So what does that mean for us today? It means God is still looking for someone—someone who will live holy, who will pray, who will intercede, who will build a wall of righteousness in their home, their church, their community.
And it starts with us examining our own hearts. Am I walking in the Lord’s ways? Am I searching for His will daily? Am I carrying anything of “Egypt” into my walk with God?

Application Questions
  1. Do I truly stop and think about God and His commands, or am I caught up in my own strength?
  2. Am I making clear what is holy and unholy by the way I live?
  3. What worldly habits or attitudes have I held onto since coming to Christ?
  4. Will I choose to stand in the gap—through prayer, holiness, and obedience—when no one else will?

Takeaway Promise 🌿
Even when no one else will, God honors the one who stands in the gap. He is faithful to strengthen, protect, and reward those who walk in His ways. “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Prayer 🙏
Lord, help me not to blur the lines but to live set apart for You. Show me if I’ve carried any of Egypt with me, and give me the courage to lay it down. Make me a woman who stands in the gap—in prayer, in righteousness, in intercession. Use my life to rebuild walls of holiness and to glorify You. Amen.
